Synopsis

The notebook falls from the sky into the lap of Light Yagami, a bored genius high schooler who'd already decided the world was rotten. The rules are simple: write a person's name in the Death Note, and they die. Light's conclusion is immediate: he will kill every criminal on earth and rule a purified world as its god. Standing between him and that future is L — a detective so brilliant and so eccentric that tracking him feels like the most dangerous game conceivable. Death Note is a 108-chapter thriller that operates as a pure intellectual duel between two minds, neither of which will concede the game is over until someone is dead. The manga is complete. The anime adaptation (2006, Madhouse) remains a benchmark of the genre. The story has no peer in the psychological thriller space.
