Synopsis
The Demon King is dead. The quest is over. Fifty years pass. Himmel dies of old age, as humans do, and Frieren attends his funeral and cries—confused by her own tears, because she barely knew him relative to her thousand-year lifespan. She realizes with devastating clarity that she never tried to understand him while she had time. Frieren: Beyond Journey's End is a manga about time—about what it costs to move through centuries while everyone you meet moves through decades, and about the slow, difficult, beautiful process of learning to be present before it's too late. **Ongoing — releases in Weekly Shonen Sunday. Won the 2024 Manga of the Year at the Tezuka Osamu Cultural Prize. The anime (Madhouse, 2023–2024) won the 2024 Anime of the Year.**
