Pluto is Naoki Urasawa's eight-volume reimagining of 'The Greatest Robot on Earth' arc from Astro Boy — sanctioned by the Tezuka estate, drawn with psychological complexity, and ultimately one of the most emotionally affecting stories about artificial consciousness the medium has produced. The anime adaptation (Netflix, 2023) is exceptional.
