Synopsis
Lin Jie runs a small, welcoming bookshop. He recommends thoughtful literature to troubled customers. He gives good advice and asks for very little in return. He is, by his own estimation, exceptionally unremarkable. The supernatural underworld sees him differently. Every person who enters his shop in desperate circumstances leaves transformed—their problems solved, their enemies broken, their lives restructured by forces they cannot explain. And somehow nobody has connected the gentle bookseller to the terrifying dark entity their world increasingly whispers about. I Am Not the Devil's Lackey is a darkly brilliant comedy that works because its protagonist is completely, genuinely sincere.
